Tucked away deep with a predominately Royalist-aligned section of the Sultanate, situated amongst the noise and color of a vibrant streetside bazaar, there sits an unassuming little sandstone building. A carved sign above the arched entry door features the image of a coiled golden serpent at rest upon the desert sands, its head lifted towards the rising sun behind it. Ornate script across the top of the sign reads "The Waking Serpent", and nearer to the bottom, easier to overlook, the image of the twin vipers and balanced scales of the Almasi Trade Consortium.Past the often-bustling exterior, there waits an establishment that is both decadent and deeply rooted in the traditions of the city that has been home to the Royalist Almasi family for so many long generations. The passion project of Lavender, the eldest of the brood of viperous siblings, the scent of incense hangs heavy on the air alongside the thick aroma of the coffee itself as it is brewed upon the heated sands of the hearth on the lower level. Pleasant music often drifts up from below, along with the chatter of voices as locals discuss politics, theology, philosophy, and--perhaps more often than they'd like to admit--matters of simple, old-fashioned gossip. With no lack of comfortable seating, and even tables for games for those who wish to engage in such, the establishment is something of an oasis amongst the chaos that thrives at the heart of Ul'dah.Monetarists won't be turned away outright, but they are cautioned to keep mindful of what opinions they choose to give voice to while within an Almasi-owned business.

Muhammara
Smokey roasted red bell pepper, blended to a dip with walnuts, seasoned breadcrumbs and a sweet-tangy drizzle of pomegranate molasses. Topped with Loch Seld brine jhammelmilk feta and mint leaves. Served with warmed pita.
Crescent Cove Cod Ceviche
Diced West Thanalan whitefish, marinated raw in salt and citrus juices, tossed with supremed satsuma, diced gator pear, cucumber, blood pepper, red onion & galago mint.
Cardamom Coffee Granita
A cooling dessert made from scraped frozen coffee, sweetened and spiced with cardamom and cinnamon. Served with assorted lokum.
Summer's Sweet Sigara Borek
A set of three thin fried pastry rolls stuffed with honey-sweetened cream cheese & an assortment of rolanberry jam, wine-poached fig compote and ginger-peach preserve fillings.
Kousa Blossom Dolmas
Delicate squash blossoms, folded into gilded purses stuffed with rice, 7-spiced ground lamb and pine nuts. Served with labneh, a strained-thick yogurt-cheese, and drizzled with smoked paprika-infused oil.
Chilled Corn Soup
Fresh picked Drybone sweetcorn, barely flame-kissed and smothered in salted cultured butter, then blended smooth with aldgoat milk infused with the flavor of the cobs. Served refreshingly cold. Drizzled with herb and chili finishing oils and topped with lump Bloodshore megalocrab.
Muhallebi
A sultana's delight. Smooth and creamy milk pudding, flavored with orange blossom essence. Topped with Azyma rose petals and pistachio.
Semolina Sunflowers
Individual sun lemon syrup soaked olive oil cakes, baked in crimped tart pans and crowned with a thinly sliced candied lemon round.
Beverage Menu
Coffee
The actual reason we're here at all. Brewed in the traditional style of the Sultanate over a bed of hot sand, sweetened to one's liking, and served in demitasse cups. Extremely potent and extremely flavorful.
Kefir
A fermented drink made from milk and kefir grains. A tangy, yogurt-like drink with a texture between milk and yogurt, and a somewhat fizzy consistency.
Ul'dahn Tea
A strongly-brewed, spiced black tea. Flavored with dried apple, cloves, and cinnamon. Sweetened with local Thanalan honey upon request.
Pomegranate Juice
The chilled juice of a pomegranate fruit, fresh from the bazaar!

An Almasi Trade Consortium Charity Project
In the markets and shrines of Ul’dah, talk has started up once more about a Trade Consortium opening the doors of one of its businesses to the benefit of the impoverished, the downtrodden, and the ill. In more well-to-do circuits, invitations begin to appear, finding their way into the hands of those of means.The Almasi Trade Consortium gladly welcomes all those within the Sultanate who may have need (and those who may simply wish for a hot meal) once more to...A Soup Kitchen at the Waking Serpent!Join us as we honor the Traders and share in the bounty of the Sultanate! A meal will be provided for those who attend without question for status or station, though those who are of means to are strongly encouraged to leave a donation in the form of either coin, nonperishable food, or medical supplies! Our dear friends at the Eumeryia Clinic will be in attendance to offer basic healing and medical care to any who might need it!When: Tuesday, July 8th at 9pm EST

Why: A dear friend wanted to do something kind for the community, and the first Soup Kitchen some months ago was such a success that the Trade Princess Lavender Almasi has decided that a repeat is in order--in a larger venue, this time, and with healers on hand!Guests of the Soup Kitchen will have their choice of either a chilled corn soup (as featured on the establishment's daily menu) or a hearty, hot chicken and vegetable soup.
